Synopsis of story:

Abigail, a young ballet dancer, is kidnapped by six criminals and taken to the secluded Wilhelm Manor. Lambert, who hired them, instructs them to guard Abigail for 24 hours, at which point each of them will receive $7 million from a $50 million ransom paid by her father. But little do they know that something is off about the whole situation and Abigail is not as innocent as they think! 

Thoughts:

This was a great horror movie - recommended to me by a friend as I didn't know this movie was about vampires and this movie was so gory that I had to pull out my gore suit! 

I was literally glued to my cozy chair as I didn't even want to put it on pause to go grab any snacks! When the vampire action starts the pace moves fast in this movie and it stays on a forward path into a twisted bloody gore fest! 

So go check it out and strap in for a gory twisted ride into insanity!

Synopsis of story:

Six friends go on a cave exploration far underground which leads to becoming trapped in an area that is inhabited by strange creatures. 

Thoughts:

I think I saw this movie not long after it came out but don't remember much of it so it was almost like watching it for the first time. This movie has tons of tension, anxiety, creature action when the friends finally get into that part of the cave with the creatures and lots of claustrophobia feelings while watching it too. 

The creatures reminded me of a twisted version of Gollum in LOTR as that is what they almost looked like to me body wise. 

Normally I will munch on popcorn or cookies or some kind of snacks but I felt myself not wanting to eat anything as I was too tensed up but I was drinking water a lot as it seemed that they were making me thirsty with their cave traveling! lol

All in all this movie kept me suspended in the cave with the friends and made me go right away to binge watch the second movie as if I am going to stay in "cave exploring mode" then I might as well do a binge watch. lol

Four "Cave Creature More Action" Stars

Synopsis of story:

No one believes Sarah when she tells her story about the cave creatures and how she lost her friends down in the caves so rescuers decide to go into the caves anyway to search and rescue survivors if there are any. 

Thoughts:

This movie I had not seen but the tension and suspense were still high for me - more for the claustrophobia feelings too but I felt that the characters in this one just were doing some stupid stuff. The action was still good but for some reason I felt that the movie wasn't moving along fast enough like the first movie. 

The creature action seemed to move fast but the character movement through the caves seemed slower. 

Still it wasn't a bad follow up sequel to the first movie but for me it wasn't five stars either like the first movie.

Story Synopsis:

Dean Corso (Johnny Depp) specializes in tracking down rare and exotic books for collectors. Dean is hired by Boris Balkan (Frank Langelia) to track down books that might be genuine to a book that he owns which is a satanic text called the Nine Gates. Balkan wants Corso to make sure that the book Balkan owns is genuine and to find out if the other books out there are genuine or forgeries. Corso is on a ride for his life when mishaps start happening to him on his quest to find the books. 

Thoughts:

This was a great movie - lots of intrigue and suspense. There is quite a bit of occult vibes running through the film and it kept me glued to my seat to find out what was going to happen to Corso on his pursuit to finding the books. I don't remember seeing this movie before either - I have seen it as far as advertising but never sat down to watch the movie. It is quite lengthy too - around 2 hours and 15 minutes long. All in all a great movie and I am glad that I finally watched it.

Story synopsis:

Ed and Lorraine Warren keep the possessed doll Annabelle locked up in their artifact room in their house. But when they go away for the evening and leave a baby sitter in charge of their daughter is when things go awry as Annabelle brings to life the evil spirits in the artifact room causing havoc and terror in the household. 

Thoughts:

This is one scary movie! I was freaked out through most of it as the tension and the jump scares kept me on the edge of my seat! It was almost as scary to me as watching the first Conjuring movie which also freaked me out. 

This movie gave me the "heebie jeebies" and almost made me want to leave the lights on in my room. I watched this movie in the dark - not a good idea. lol   The movie gets five stars from me for keeping me spooked!

Storyline:

A family moves to a small town in California where they plan on starting a new life while running a long-abandoned funeral home.

Thoughts:

This was a good spooky movie! There were a few jump scares but if anything the whole movie was kind of intense as the cast of characters were trying to evade dead bodies that were coming to life and I was wondering what was going to happen next! 

Though I felt that sometimes the characters would do something that made it seem they were not very bright either - their choices were not top notch but then again this is a horror movie so those "do not run that way" trope came into play! :)

Deep Rising (1998)

Storyline:

A group of heavily armed hijackers board a luxury ocean liner in the South Pacific Ocean to loot it, only to do battle with a series of large-sized, tentacled, man-eating sea creatures who had already invaded the ship.

Thoughts:

I don't remember seeing this movie before but it had tons of jump scares when the characters get on the ship as there was tons of suspense as the movie moves along. There was quite a bit of tension build up as I didn't know what to expect as everything played out. 

I really liked all the characters in this movie as there was lots of sci-fi action. Through it all I was riveted to the TV as I snacked along on some chips which probably wasn't the best idea when some of those jump scares almost made me choke on my chips! lol  Maybe I should eat soft cookies next time around! lol

I love watching anything that has Famke Janssen starring in it as I love watching her in movies. So this movie was a real treat! 

All in all I thought it was a great movie with the right amount of action, suspense, scares, and the unknown looming of what would happen next! Gave this movie five skull stars for keeping me locked into my cozy chair throughout the movie!

Thoughts:

I thought that the movie might be closer to a C- or D- rating as I thought it might end up being a dud however it was kind of creepy - I wasn't crazy about some of the characters though - a couple of them deserved their fate! lol  But all in all it had a few jump scares and it had an overall spooky atmosphere. I thought the movie was really good and it kept me spooked. 😁

Synopsis:

A crazed murderer begins to kill teenagers after they refuse to forward his chain emails and they begin to die in horrible ways when they delete the emails.

Thoughts:

I have never seen this movie - I think I saw it advertised years ago but never got around to watching it. This movie is brutal! Lots of gore and torture. I wasn't really expecting that the movie was extreme until I watched the opening of the movie which shows someone chained to two cars. 

That is about all I can say as you will need to watch the movie to find out what happens but it gives a background on what led up to that person being chained. I wasn't familiar with the people that played the characters except for about three people, Brad Dourif, Keith David, and Matt Cohen. I think it was a great movie and gave it four skull stars!

Tamara is an outcast in high school and always seems to get made fun of but the tables are turned when things go too far at a supposed party and she dies. The classmates that were involved become the victims of her revenge when her ghost comes back to haunt them. 

Thoughts:

I had seen this movie a long time ago but had kind of forgot about it. I remember liking it the first time I watched it. I love the haunting revenge movies. A ghost going on a revenge streak for not being treated right in life.  This movie was spooky and had some jump scares as well. I had forgot some parts of it and didn't remember bits and pieces of the movie so I was happy that I watched it again. Gave this little horror gem four skull stars!

Plot/Synopsis:

When Chris Rhymer and her young son Jeremy are forced to relocate to a small rural community, they have no idea of the past terror that their presence re-awakens.

Thoughts:

It was okay - wasn't great - loved the first movie way better as it was more scarier. This movie really didn't do justice to the first movie. Though the backstory was supposed to be considered taboo by the local town folk of what had taken place years before. I felt the scarecrow villain which is supposed to be Bubba Ritter but as a ghost was not very scary either. I am glad I watched it but I won't watch it again. I would rather watch the first over and over.

Plot/Synopsis:

A girl takes her friends to a house with a dark past for a research project. They unwittingly summon an evil entity with plans of its own who makes the house part of its sinister game.

Thoughts:

It was a good movie - wasn't really scary - the only character I recognized was Dee Wallace as she played in the movie but she wasn't a main character - more like a support character. But the movie did have some creep out moments but nothing that kept me spooked out of my skin. A couple of the Ouija movies in that franchise are scary but this one didn't make the grade for me.

Synopsis:

Clare's dad gives her an old music box that he bought from an estate sale. The music box is considered a wish box that will grant seven wishes. Clare doesn't really realize that the wish box works till she tries it out and her first wish comes true. But then Clare gets hooked on using the wish box but she doesn't realize that every wish she makes something bad happens to someone until things spiral out of control and she thinks that maybe she shouldn't even have the box. 

Thoughts:

I thought this was a good movie - even though it was kind of cheesy I felt that it still had a good plot and storyline - the wish box granting Clare's wishes really seemed to work but then when it takes a life it would do it in such a way that I was cringing in parts of the movie. Though I had a feeling how a couple of the bad things were going to go so yelling at the tv never works either. lol  

Characters:

Clare was played by Joey King who I have seen in some other movies including the first movie I had seen her in was The Conjuring. Some of the other characters I don't remember seeing in anything else but all in all the movie was really good and I am glad that I watched it.

Five "Scary" Ghosts

Thoughts:

This is my second all time favorite movie and I don't care how many times I watch it the movie will creep me out every time. I feel this movie is so underrated and actually obscure within the horror movie world. The first time I watched it was actually through Netflix as I use to borrow movies on dvd (I didn't have the streaming at that time) but I saw it on the Netflix website and it looked really good. I was impressed by how scary it was along with the cool graphics of some of the scenes - there are some brutal parts in the movie. 

Small synopsis for you: 

Marnie Watson spent seven years in prison for murdering her husband in self defense but she is finally released under house arrest in the same home where she killed her husband. With her being back in her home she starts hearing things within the home and then starts seeing things. She soon realizes that her husband is back and he is not a happy camper as he starts to go after her for sending him to the grave. 

Characters:

The main character Marnie Watson is played by Famke Janssen and she is superb in this movie role. The other two main characters are Joey (played by Ed Westwick) and Shanks (played by Bobby Cannavale).  

This movie will definitely keep you snuggled down in your cozy chair and I would recommend watching it in the dark for extra effect as this movie will have you screaming at the tv. I was yelling at the tv the first time I watched it as I was wanting her to get the hell out of lockdown and just get out of there - lol - but of course she has to stay there or they will just throw her back in jail - but jail would probably be a picnic to what she has to go through in her home. 

If you can find this movie - go check it out. I have not seen it playing on any network either for a very long time. I had bought the movie from Amazon a long time ago.

The Midnight Man (2016)

 

Four "Scary Spook" Stars

Thoughts:

I came across this movie Friday night as I was trying to find something to watch. There was one movie I wanted to see but the audio wasn't working on the movie so I just scrolled through the movies and came across this one. It sounded good so I decided to try it. The movie has not received that great of reviews and ratings but like with anything I like to try it out for myself. 

I thought the movie was really good as it had all the right spookiness and the actor, Robert Englund played in it as a doctor and Lin Shaye is in the movie as the grandmother. Gabrielle Haugh plays the granddaughter who really is the main character in the movie. 

The story is about an older woman (a grandmother) that has her granddaughter living with her as a caretaker as the grandmother has dementia and needs 24 hour care. But when her granddaughter invites over her boyfriend  - they discover in the attic a box that is sealed tight with string - when they open it out of curiosity they end up playing a game that is within the box - which summons the Midnight Man. (I thought I would toss out a small synopsis of the story to whet your appetite.).

There are quite a few jump scares within this movie and I found myself spooking out some but the spooky stuff moves at a fast pace as it kept me riveted to my chair. 

All in all a really good movie and I enjoyed it as I felt it was like one of those B-Horror movies. 

Unfortunately I could find no gifs for this movie.

Thoughts:

I watched this movie last night and it was really scary. I have watched the Conjuring franchise and have been impressed on how the movies have the scary theme running through them. This movie though I felt was scarier than the other two. 

I know a lot of people have mixed reviews/opinions about the Warrens and that is all fine and good but I have always loved to read and watch the true paranormal stuff as well as read/watch horror movies. I don't care really what people think about them but I do not believe they were fake. Of course that is just my opinion.   

The movies are still scary whether anyone believes they are true or not as horror is horror in whatever form it comes in. I feel that this movie outdid the other two movies and I am happy that I was able to watch it as I didn't know that it was on Tubi till I was scrolling through the network last night looking for a scary horror movie to watch and that movie popped up, but it is only on Tubi for another week or so then it will be gone. I haven't found the movie on any other network to watch either which is interesting as normally I can find the same movies sometimes on Prime or Paramount+. 

Also I love Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga with their roles as the Warrens. I have seen both of them play in other movies too which I love watching them within other roles as well.

Five Clowns

Thoughts:

One of my favorite horror movies of all time. I have watched this movie hundreds of times. I love the original movie as I love all the celebrities that played in this one. A few of them had played on tv shows that I grew up watching as well so to me this movie has an all-star cast. 

I know a lot of people love the remake better which I have seen but to me my love for this movie will always be with the original movie. 

I have read the book too which actually has been quite awhile since I have read it. I read it years and years ago like back in the 90's sometime so I am wanting to do a reread of it at some point as since I read it years ago I don't have a review for it over on Goodreads. 

When I first joined Goodreads which was back in 2011, I ended up inserting a lot of my King books that I had read in the 80's/90's within the website but I didn't write reviews as I didn't realize how important the reviews were at that time so I just added star ratings. So on my Goodreads "King" shelf some of his books are only star rated. I have since been doing rereads of his work and adding reviews to the books. 

So I have always been happy with this movie even though it is a long one - I have always enjoyed watching it and will always snuggle down in my cozy chair for a night of snacks/drinks and to pop this movie in for a night of scary thrills!
